1. What are Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)?
FSAs are health benefits offered by some employers in the United States
that allow an employee to set aside pretax dollars from their paycheck
into a special account that is to be used to pay for eligible health
related expenses.
Most FSA dollars are “Use It or Lose It” which means that you have until
the end of your benefits period to spend all of your FSA dollars or they
are forfeited. Always check the specifics of your plan, because some FSA
plans allow a grace period through the beginning of the new year for you
to spend your FSA dollars and others allow a portion of your FSA
contributions to roll over into the next year.
2. What are Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)?
HSAs are health benefits offered by some employers in the United States
that allow an employee to set aside pretax dollars from their paycheck
into a special account that is to be used to pay for eligible health
related expenses.
HSAs are tied to specific high deductible insurance plans, and they
dollars do not expire at the end of the benefit period.
3. What items are eligible for FSA and HSA reimbursement?
A wide variety of over-the-counter healthcare products and treatments
are eligible for FSA and HSA spending. Including: Sunscreens,
foundations, and day creams with broad spectrum SPF 15+.
Additional products are available for FSA and HSA reimbursement, but
they require a letter of medical necessity from your doctor- so always
check with your benefits administrator for guidance on eligibility of
products.
4. How do I pay with my HSA or FSA card?
To use your HSA or FSA debit card, add products to your cart as usual.
At checkout, select “Flex | Pay with HSA/FSA” as your payment option,
enter your HSA or FSA debit card, and complete your checkout as usual.
5. Do you need a prescription to purchase products with your
FSA/HSA dollars?
At this time, you do not need a prescription to purchase the products we
have tagged as FSA/HSA eligible. Some benefits plans require a letter of
medical necessity for specific skincare products, so please confirm with
your benefits provider that your purchase meets their requirements or
have the proper documentation.
6. What happens if a return an FSA/HSA eligible item?
If you have filed for reimbursement for a purchase of an FSA/HSA
eligible product, you will need to partner with your benefits provider
to determine if there are any special actions needed should you return
that product.
